Sheikh Jarrah is An Iranian Plot
And it's working thanks to Iran's useful idiots and quiet allies.
There is no reason why a real estate dispute should balloon into an international cause célèbre.
Unless, of course, it involves Jewish people.
A long-running court case in Israel regarding the ownership of several houses has turned into a rallying point for Iran’s useful idiots and quiet allies globally. Iran’s activist proxies have projected a narrative onto the facts that is wholly divorced from reality and which completely ignores the strategic reasons why this case has been given so much attention.
In the Principled Activist’s telling (which has the same basic thrust as that of the /pol/ Nazis’s), White (*coughKhazarcough*) Settler Colonialist Apartheid Israel is once again genociding Poor Indigenous BIPOC Palestinians, this time via Racist Neoliberal Gentrifying Court Rulings, the ultimate tool of the settler colonialist entity in legitimizing its rule over a stolen land.
A heroic tale, if any of this were “true.”
I’m not going to get into the details of the case itself because the specific details are irrelevant. Propaganda thrives in details and relies on ensnaring its victims within them so they don’t look at the framing of the issue they’re suddenly so passionate about or what purpose it serves.
That is something the Sheikh Jarrah boosters have yet to learn, despite their experience in “combating” Axis propaganda over Syria for the last ten years.
Though, if they were at all effective, Assad would be gone by now.
These activists are generally good at correcting the disinformation and stating individual facts (sometimes even several), but they are completely inept at challenging the premises on which the misinformation is stacked. They generally accept these premises implicitly and whole-heartedly in their attempts to correct the record (“Idlib is only 3% jihadi,” “Even if you don’t support intervention you should still oppose Assad,” “Assad fuels terrorism,” etc.) which means they are essentially fighting for a more correct understanding of hell rather than trying to escape it.
Again, Iran has played these people masterfully. As Iran murders Iraqi activists with impunity with a de facto Western greenlight (the US hasn’t commented on this issue as Democrats seek to empower Iran and underwrite its cleansing of surplus Arabs from Gaza to Baghdad, while it was quick to tilt the scales against Israel) on the tails of its 10-year old genocide in Syria, “principled pro-Palestinian” activists have thrown themselves into the Sheikh Jarraj breach, breathlessly driving the news cycle in a direction Iran loves to see.
The more Axis-compromised among this activist class will attempt to escape this jam by defaulting to some specious, vaguely-anarchist notions of “supporting people, not states” and “victims of state violence” and point to the Israeli police response as what they are really opposing, and Israel’s historic oppression of Palestinians, of which this is just another chapter, and that true revolutionaries support people struggling against oppression no matter what…or something.
These people are trying to thread the needle once again, but now they have to do so within the fabric of Iranian propaganda. They “oppose” rocket attacks by Iranian proxies on civilians in Israel proper, yet also “support” the…right of Palestinian…self-determination…and the Sheikh Jarrah protests…
That the entire second half of this eloquent and principled position is a media circus manufactured by Iran to lead precisely to this situation, where they could finally turn their forces on Israel after having secured four Arab capitals, is incapable of entering the Principled’ Activist’s mind. Since, out of habit, they think that principle always takes the form of a baroque straddling of two seeming opposites, regardless of whether or not the premises they’re operating on are real or were created by the very forces they claim to have fought over the last decade in Syria and Iraq.
I won’t bother with the other notion that the activists like to roll out, that you can’t support Syrian Revolution without supporting whatever Iranian plot anti-Semites are pushing with the Palestine puppet today. I actually have believed this to be the case since 2011, back when all of these people were still Assadists, MIA, or bleating on about supporting the Revolution and opposing intervention (the only thing that could have toppled Assad, as Russia’s entry was inevitable). However, if the Arab Spring revolutions can bring a resolution to the Israel/Palestine situation, it will be by facilitating the creation of Palestinian democracy, something totally absent from the hollow formulations activists repeat that simply update the old pan-Arab sloganeering for the more “nuanced” 21st century.
Which brings us to the plot. Make no mistake - Iran means to destroy Israel and commit a Second Holocaust. Much of the world supports them in this effort, including Western leftists, especially Jewish ones, who never seem to ask why Israel exists in the first place and how their assimilationist approach turned out the last time it was attempted, and now many liberals.
On top of the everyone else.
This plot is multi-vectored and involves countless actors, but the unifying force between them is anti-Semitism, just as it was in World War Two - which shouldn’t even be regarded as a series of wars, but rather an international orgy of violence driven by anti-Semitic conspiracies.
Indeed, Iran’s greatest victory thus far from the plot has been to whip up the grand anti-Semitic coalition to further cement the Democratic Party’s Axis tilt and abandonment of Israel. Syria observers who aren’t captive to their own ideology will note that the exact same people who facilitated Assad’s reconquest of Free Syria via forcing rebels into surrenders are now using America’s diplomatic machinery to enact the same slow strangulation on Israel.
That is of course in addition to however far the new conflict between Israel and Iran’s Gaza proxies goes (a perfect time for America’s Pipeline to be shut down by Russians!).
Of course, Israel could bail themselves out of this plot with one sortie to Assad’s palace. Syria is Iran’s heartland and the keystone of the Axis - take out that Jenga piece and Russia and Iran will fall, while China will be isolated.
They won’t, but that’s beside the point. The takeaway is that Iran’s useful idiots are again hard at work without even knowing it, giving their quiet allies all the space they need to deliver them real victories.
Oh, and to the “activists” - Rania has 217k followers now and will only get more. No one cares about your pitiful threads begging people to support Syria as they “support Palestine” because this is entirely driven by anti-Semitism for Iran and China’s benefit.
Maybe after another few million are dead they’ll understand a fraction of this.
Most of the "good" on Syria leftists have been way more passionate about Palestine than Aleppo or Idlib. It just shows what motivates them
